From the elegant East London offices of a global digital agency, it’s easy to forget that Tower Hamlets is one of the most deprived boroughs in the UK. Working as part of a small multi-disciplinary team at Sapient Nitro, we were challenged with giving the charity First Love Foundation a sharper positioning, a bold new visual identity and a brand new website. The charity was previously known as the Tower Hamlets Foodbank but they felt it didn't accurately describe the work they do.

As the sole writer and content strategist on the project, I was tasked with creating:

  • a defined tone of voice
  • a written brand manifesto
  • all written website content from scratch to extremely tight deadlines

I worked closely with the founders of the charity, their supporters and interviewed some of people that the organisation has helped to get their lives back on track. I wrote a series of ‘stories’ for the website which you can read below (zoom to increase size), along with the rest of the site copy. You can see more by visiting

I’m proud to have worked with such an inspiring organisation.
